Corporate Giving & Charity Fundraising

Charitable donations form an important part of Flowstore’s Corporate Social Responsibility Policy initiative. In addition, our staff have generously got behind a number of fundraising projects to back up our corporate giving to worthwhile causes.

Charitable Giving To Wheels For The World

Flowstore has adopted the Wheels for the World charity as a worthy concern. This organisation makes a practical difference to disabled people’s lives in the developing world by refurbishing and sending out old NHS wheelchairs for their use.

Following an initial company donation, which financed a container load of wheelchairs, the staff set themselves a charity fundraising target of sponsoring a wheelchair a month.

The FlowTube team then imaginatively used FlowTube parts to construct a moneybox in the form of a wheelchair, with spare change being collected in the tubes.

Fundraising Events

Other staff fundraising ideas for Wheels for the World included a sponsored five-a-side football tournament, attended by the charity’s chief executive, at our local Goals Soccer Centre in Hayes.

Further charitable donations were raised by a fun art auction and pizza supper for which staff, families and friends provided artwork and photos.

Giving To Charity By Giving Time And Skills

Physiotherapists and technicians accompany the Wheels for the World wheelchairs to offer support to the new owners, many of whom have never been mobile before.

Our Corporate Sponsorship scheme has enabled two of our employees to join teams from the charity, modifying the wheelchairs for individual children and adults.

It can take up to two hours to adapt the chair to the best sitting position possible.

Graham Watts, who designs FlowTube Lean work cells for UK manufacturers, spent 10 days in Uganda.

Flowstore employee Ian Bunyan spent 10 days in Kenya, where the team worked on 130 wheelchairs and distributed 60-70 walking aids.

It can take up to two hours to adapt the chair to the best sitting position possible, working with physios and other specialists.

Wheels for the World operates in various countries where wheelchairs and mobility aids are in limited supply. It is part of the charity Through the Roof.
